Halloween Scare

This Halloween we dressed up and were determined to trick or treat to as many places as possible. Collecting candy is so much fun.

We went in a big group to every store and house in a two-mile radius of the local cemetery.  What fun, we saw aliens, serial killers, ghosts and witches and Disney characters and every creature under the sun plus listening to all the classic Halloween music. Thriller………………..

My friends and I were done by 10 pm and it was time to head home. The way home is quicker through the un-gated cemetery and we figured it would be safe for all of us to go together so no ghouls could scare us.

We were fifteen strong and we made lots of noise as we walked swiftly through the old gray tombstones. We were reading the headstones. The cemetery does not discriminate it takes everyone. Children, teenagers, and elderly are here, those with every kind of job and every skin color.

I noticed a tombstone with information about a young man who passed recently, he was twenty years old, and there were no other details. How sad to die so young.

We all made it home to our respective homes and I settled in to sleep after eating too much candy and did too much walking. As I lay my head down on my pillow and began to fall asleep, I felt someone in my room. My eyes flew open and I slowly turned over and saw a young twenty-year-old man, dressed in a tuxedo without a jacket and his face all bloody, smashed in face, and looking barely human. I knew immediately it was the ghost of that young man. I was frozen with fright and sat up.

This apparition said “Where am I, What happened to me?”

I am not sure how I knew but I replied “You died in a car accident a while back, I am so sorry.”

The young man understood what happened to him and turned and disappeared.

With a smile on my face, I fell back on my pillow knowing I was safe and that I helped this poor ghost move to the light. How lucky am I.

This was the best Halloween ever; I will never forget it.
