Friendship, My Eternal Lover

We started out as friends

What a beautiful friendship we had

In time, we became lovers

What a passionate friendship we had

Soon after, we became wife and husband

What a tender friendship we had

Troubles won over

Friends became enemies

What enemies we became

Fighting, screaming, seemingly deaf to each other

Time softened the razor sharp wrinkles in our hearts

Like the liquid softener you add to your laundry detergent

Our lives have come full circle

We are friends again

What a friendship we have

Friends we will be through eternity
