February says the shortest am I,
March on! says April to May and June,
Julius and Augustus a triumphant tune,
September, October, once seven and eight,

Caesar and Gregory pondered it still,
November, December, the year to fill,
Yet again Janus, and two-faced is he,
Another year gone by - how can it be?

R. Melnick, from 1997, revisited 12-2020
