Birdy and Teapot - A Love Story

I saw a teapot climbing a tree

He used his handle and spout to steady himself.

I asked “Where you are going teapot”.

He replied “up the tree to see birdy”

Teapot settled in a big fluffy leafy branch and waited.

A few days passed

It had rained and he had water in his belly.

He shook it out.

An occasional spider leaped on his lid

He danced it away

Leaves nestled around him as he waited for birdy making the branch very comfortable.

I shouted upwards with my hand cupping my mouth to have the words go directly up the tree.

“Did you see birdy yet? “

Teapot responded “not yet”.

Teapot loves Birdy.

They met a long time ago.

They promised to one day be together

Birdy remembered too.

She was late and she worried

Will teapot keep his promise?

She spread her great gray wings as doves do and let the wind sweep her as fast as winds do to the branch where teapot was waiting patiently.

It took another day of teapot waiting but he didn't budge.  Bugs visited. Wind spoke telling where Birdy was. He waited.  The sun was too hot sometimes.  He remembered Birdy loved him and he was happy.

I passed by again on another day and saw teapot in the branch but didn't enquire about Birdy.

Birdy is almost to the branch

She rounds the red building on the left and her heart is racing.

She flew long and hard to find Teapot.

Teapot spots her in flight.

Birdy shouts Teapot “I'm here.”  Teapot waves his handle and spout. “Birdy Birdy I love you.”  Birdy replied “I love you Teapot.”  She settled clumsily next to teapot and almost knocked them both to the ground.

Laughing, Birdy put her great gray dove wings around teapot.  Smiling.

I watched them talk about worms, hot water and jasmine tea. How lucky they are. In love and yet so different.

Birdy would take teapot on her adventures to get food sometimes. Teapot would hold her goodies until they were back on the branch.

You see that is what love is sometimes.  Different, unordinary, unexpected yet so tender and caring.

As for me, Birdy and Teapot are my inspiration.

Love who ever loves you.  There is always a miracle around the corner and tree to climb and love awaits the brave. Be bold in love. Don't waste time.

Birdy and Teapot tell each other “I love you” every day.

I want to tell those I love the same

I love you forever and a day.  Immensely, gorgeously, wildly, special, don't go away.

Back at home I thought of them and remembered to love openly freely.

I LOVE YOU
