The Little Monster

I saw a little monster leaning on a fence

He was hairy and scary and his tongue bluish red

I said hey little monster why are you so tense

He said leave me now I am already dead

You don’t look dead just a little dry

Can I get you some water by and by

Surely said the monster as he lapped up the drink

For your kindness he said in a wink

Befriending a monster is very good luck on this very good day

He will repay you in an unexpected way

The little monster was gone in a flash

So fast I almost got whiplash

Much time has gone by

I forgot about him

Until one day my oh my

I was in the deep ocean for a swim

Something grabbed my big toe

I thrashed to and fro

it nudged me again I felt its weight

Oh my goodness I thought I was bait

No one was near to hear me scream

But I did anyway in hopes so extreme

I saw a shark eyeing me as his meal

I dived deep to escape this appeal

He followed me up and down the ocean waves

I was getting winded from all the braves

I couldn’t scream any more I started to faint

Was this to be my miserable fate?

The shark knew it would be long before I drowned

He waited till I could shout no more

In the distance I saw a tiny boat

With a light

Some smoke

The smell of bacon and toast

I thought I was dreaming

The boat sped up screaming

I heard get out of here shark before I skin you alive

The shark bolted afraid for his hide

I couldn’t understand why the shark left so fast

Till I turned and saw the little monster at the mast

Ahoy said the monster

I am no imposter

I’m here to save you

Don’t be blue

He scooped me up into his boat

He handed me some bacon and toast

I grabbed some hot tea

The ocean had nearly froze me

And off we went to my home region

So happy not to be beaten

Thanks monster this I said

Fully fed on my bacon and bread

You’re welcome he said with a great big smile

He wasn’t scary anymore I liked his stile

Happy to have him as my chauffeur

Bluefish red tongue peeking out from his fur

We landed on shore and as we did

She said I repaid you as he winked with his eyelid

Off he went so merrily and light

With colors trailing like a meteorite

The lesson here is be kind to all

Cause life can throw you a curve ball

And you will see

Monsters can be as good as can be

We all need help sometimes

In the daytime,

Nighttime’s, past times, show times, five times, wartimes, halftimes

Six times

You, me and hairy scary monsters

With bluish red tongues occasionally

In our little lifetimes

Here and there I look for him

Especially when my world is dim

I’ve never seen him again

I’m sure he is gone back to his den

He taught me a lesion

Here I say without question

I love that little monster

He’s the best ship owner.

A Remarkable Event
